Kando – pie menu to launch applications, simulate hotkeys, open URLs

Kando is a highly customizable pie menu for the desktop which allows you to create your own menus and actions.

For instance, you can use it to control your music player, to open your favorite websites, or to simulate shortcuts.

This is free and open source software.

Key Features

  • Create any number of nested menus which can be opened with keyboard shortcuts.
  • Application-dependent menus are a core feature. This means that you can create a menu which only shows up when a specific application is focused.
  • Listens to global hotkeys.
  • Supports the creation of menus which can be used to select a value. For instance, this will make it possible to create menus which can be used to control the volume or the screen brightness.
  • Comes with a graphical menu editor which allows you to create and edit your own menus. All configuration is stored JSON files which you can also edit manually.
  • Supports a wide range of desktop environments include GNOME, KDE, XFCE, MATE, Budgie, Cinnamon, LXQt, LXDE, Openbox, and i3.
  • Cross-platform support – runs under Linux (both X11 and Wayland are supported), macOS, and Windows.
