Ink – create responsive web interfaces quick and efficiently

Ink is an open source interface kit for quick development of web interfaces, simple to use and expand on. It is a HTML5/CSS3 framework for fast and efficient website design and prototyping which offers a fluid and responsive grid, common interface elements, interactive components, a design-first approach with ease of use and simplicity at its core.

It uses a combination of HTML, CSS and JavaScript to offer modern solutions for building layouts, display common interface elements and implement interactive features that are content-centric and user friendly for both your audience and your designers & developers.

Ink is built with 1.4.0 LESS compiler version, FontAwesome, Ubuntu Font, HTML5 shiv and normalize.css.

Features include:

  • Grid system that offers real flexibility in building layouts.
  • Generic styling classes which can be applied to many elements in different contexts to obtain a consistent result.
  • Responsive, using a very logical size progression.
  • Tries to rely as much as possible on natural language.

  • Markup and CSS components for common web UI:
    • Navigation – easy to implement and quick to make flexible and responsive to various screen widths.
  • • Typography – simple and elegant base style for text with a clear hierarchy and flexible, generic styling for all types of typographical composition:
      • Four basic list styles defined in Ink, which correspond to the most widely used HTML list formats and also include an unstyled list format.
  • • Icons – uses Font Awesome, an icon webfont containing over 200 cool pictograms for use in your projects.
  • • Forms – Form building nightmare made easy.
  • • Alerts – basic alerts and block alerts.
  • • Tables – display tabular data clearly with alternating colored rows, highlight rows on hover, full borders for a more classic table, combine several styles, and special colored rows.
  • JavaScript engine called Ink JS Core which provides DOM manipulation, communication facilities, page effects and more.
