Guvcview (GTK+ UVC Viewer) is a webcam application.
Guvcview aims at providing a simple interface for capturing and viewing video from v4l2 devices, with a special emphasis for the linux uvc driver.
The project provides a control interface based on Gtk3 or Qt5, depending on the build configuration. A console only option is also available.
You can also use Guvcview has a control window only, (from console: guvcview –control_only), this allows image control on other apps, like ekiga, cheese, mplayer, skype, …
Key Features
- Two-window interface in normal use. One window displays the camera image to be recorded and the other displays the settings and controls, as well as menus.
- Extension controls, vendor-specific controls included in the UVC specifications, which are dynamically loaded into the driver.
- Audio support can be selected from two APIs: portaudio or pulseaudio.
- Control window is available (from console:
guvcview --control_only), this allows image control on other apps, like ekiga, cheese, mplayer, skype, … - Still images can be recorded in .bmp, .jpg, .png, .raw and videos in .avi, .mkv (Matroska Multimedia Container open standard format) and .webm open standard format.
- Video capture mode includes some basic special effects. These are: mirror, invert, negative, mono, pieces and particles, which can be combined by selecting more than one
