Glances – cross-platform system monitoring tool written in Python

Glances is a cross-platform, open source, curses-based monitoring tool which aims to present a maximum of information in a minimum of space, ideally to fit in a classical 80×24 terminal or higher to have additional information.

Glances can adapt dynamically the displayed information depending on the terminal size. It can also work in a client/server mode for remote monitoring.

Glances uses PsUtil to fetch the statistical values from key elements.

Features include:

• CPU Information (user related applications, system core programs and idle programs.
• Total memory Information including RAM, Swap, Free memory etc.
• The average CPU load for the past 1min, 5mins and 15 mins.
• Network Download/Upload rates of network connections.
• Total number of processes, active ones, sleeping processes etc.
• Disk I/O related (read or write) speed details.
• Currently mounted devices disk usages.
• Top processes with their CPU/Memory usages, Names and location of application.
• Shows the current date and time at bottom.
• Highlights processes in Red that consumes highest system resources.
