Fluxion – Wireless Security Auditing Tool

Fluxion is a terminal-based TUI and command-line framework for authorised wireless security assessments.

It helps testers evaluate whether users and wireless deployments are susceptible to rogue access-point and captive-portal attacks. The software is designed for controlled laboratory environments and networks where the operator has explicit permission to conduct security testing.

This is free and open source software.

Key Features

  • Scans the surrounding area for wireless networks that can be selected as authorised test targets.
  • Displays a terminal-driven menu system for configuring and managing an assessment.
  • Provides command-line options for automated, repeatable and headless workflows.
  • Includes a handshake-snooping component for collecting authentication material used during verification.
  • Creates a controlled rogue access point that imitates the selected test network.
  • Runs a captive portal that can demonstrate credential-harvesting risks to authorised participants.
  • Checks a submitted wireless key against captured authentication data instead of exposing the key externally.
  • Provides selectable access-point implementations based on hostapd or airbase-ng.
  • Supports dedicated wireless interfaces for scanning, monitoring, access-point operation and client tracking.
  • Can display wireless adapters together with their driver, chipset, bus, band and current state.
  • Supports testing on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks when compatible hardware is available.
  • Accepts a specific BSSID, ESSID and channel for a predefined assessment target.
  • Offers manual configuration as well as an automatic operating mode.
  • Includes a scan-only mode for inventory work without beginning an attack simulation.
  • Can operate inside tmux for headless or remote terminal sessions.
  • Uses configurable regulatory-domain settings to match local wireless requirements.
  • Provides timeout and debugging controls for diagnosing hardware or workflow problems.
  • Includes localised portal content and support for custom captive-portal sites.
  • Is commonly used on Kali Linux with an external wireless adapter that supports the required operating modes.
  • Should only be used against wireless infrastructure covered by explicit testing authorisation.
