Last Updated on May 27, 2022

17. GitLab Issues

KDE Widgets: GitLab Issues
This widget displays a list of recent GitLab issues and merge requests. You can define a specific or multiple repos, or groups.

There’s a few other options available. You can choose to see open issues, closed issues, or both open and closed issues.

There’s the ability to sort by Created or Updated in either Descending or Ascending order.

Choose your update period. By default this is 60 minutes, but this can be altered.

GitLab is a web-based DevOps lifecycle tool that provides a Git-repository manager providing wiki, issue-tracking and continuous integration/continuous deployment pipeline features.

18. RSS Indicator

KDE Widgets: RSS Indicator

A news aggregator is software which collect news, weblog posts, and other information from the web so that they can be read in a single location for easy viewing. With the range of news sources available on the internet, news aggregators play an essential role in helping users to quickly locate breaking news.

There are a number of different file formats which information publishers use. The most frequently ones are RSS and Atom. RSS is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication.

RSS Indicator is a good way of keeping up-to-date with your favorite sites. It’s got a few annoying bugs and is unmaintained, otherwise we’d have ranked much higher.

There are better desktop RSS feed readers available. Our News Aggregators roundup is a good port of call.

19. Comic Strip

Comic-Strip

This is one of the default widgets that’s a little treasure. There’s lots of great comic strips to read. There’s plugins for XKCD, Dilbert, Garfield, and many more. But my favorite isn’t a comic strip but the NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day.

You can change the update checking for new comic strips, alter what information is shown, and configure the comic cache.

A great diversion from getting work done!

20. Plasma Customization Saver

PlasmaConfigSaver allows you to save your current desktop layout configuration and restore previous saved layouts on the fly.

There’s also functionality to import and export customizations.

It’s a simple yet effective widget.

If you frequently change your desktop layout, this widget might just be the ticket.
