Tachyon – fast and privacy-focused webmail client

Tachyon is a self-hosted webmail application combining email, contacts and calendars without requiring a separate database.

It connects directly to existing mail and groupware services using standard protocols and is designed to keep communication with the user’s own infrastructure rather than relying on external services. Tachyon descends from the RainLoop and SnappyMail codebases but has continued development of its interface, security, mobile behaviour and integration features.

This is free and open source software.

• Includes configurable undo-send functionality which delays delivery to SMTP.
• Blocks remote images until explicitly allowed and stores trusted-sender preferences on the server.
• Provides light, dark and system-following appearance modes across its bundled themes.
• Supports swipe navigation between messages on touch devices.
• Integrates with Nextcloud and can migrate an existing SnappyMail installation while retaining its data and configuration.
• Includes an administrative interface for updates, branding, logging, calendar configuration and security settings.
• Provides release signature verification, Content Security Policy headers, Subresource Integrity and restrictive browser permission policies.
• Loads less frequently used components on demand to keep the initial browser payload comparatively small.
