lrzip-next is a long-range compression utility.
The project builds on the original design with a large number of enhancements aimed at better compression, broader platform support, improved configurability, and ongoing maintenance.
This is free and open source software.
Key Features
- Supports multiple back-end compressors including LZMA, Zstandard, ZPAQ, bzip3, gzip, bzip2, lzo, and rzip pre-processed mode.
- Offers processor and delta filters for x86, ARM, ARM64, PPC, SPARC, IA64, and RISC-V data streams.
- Includes x86_64 assembler optimizations for LZMA decompression and match finding.
- Lets users tune rzip pre-compression, dictionary sizes, block sizes, threads, and compressibility thresholds.
- Provides hashing and encryption options via libgcrypt, with SCRYPT key derivation and multiple hash algorithms.
- Adds practical usability features such as comments, detailed info reporting, locale configuration, BSD support, and a very quiet mode.
