ChurrOS is a Colombian Linux distribution built on Arch Linux and designed for systems with limited hardware resources. It aims to provide a responsive desktop that remains approachable to people who want the benefits of an Arch-derived system without having to assemble and tune a lightweight environment themselves.
The distribution provides two distinct desktop choices. Xfce offers a conventional, familiar desktop with modest resource requirements, while Niri provides a Wayland-based scrolling tiling environment for users who prefer a keyboard-driven workflow. The project also ships a curated set of applications and system defaults intended to make the system useful immediately after installation.

What's a Linux distribution ("distro")? |
| A distro provides the user with a desktop environment, preloaded applications, and ways to update and maintain the system. Each distro makes different choices, deciding which open source projects to install and provides custom written programs. They can have different philosophies. Some distros are intended for desktop computers, some for servers without a graphical interface, and others for special uses. Because Linux is an open source operating system, combinations of software vary between Linux distros. |
