FilzaOS is an experimental Linux distribution based on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Developed by Peshimam Ashar Mohammed, the project aims to give Ubuntu a distinct identity through desktop customisation, system utilities and boot branding.
The distribution uses the GNOME desktop environment with a purple-accented appearance. It includes custom GTK and icon themes, wallpapers, terminal colours and a modified shell prompt. Users can switch between several visual styles using FilzaOS’s own theme management tools.
FilzaOS also provides a collection of command-line utilities for examining system information, checking system health and diagnosing network problems. The project retains Ubuntu’s underlying kernel, package management and system infrastructure.
The distribution remains at an early stage of development. Its current release is intended for live-session experimentation and virtual machine testing.

What's a Linux distribution ("distro")? |
| A distro provides the user with a desktop environment, preloaded applications, and ways to update and maintain the system. Each distro makes different choices, deciding which open source projects to install and provides custom written programs. They can have different philosophies. Some distros are intended for desktop computers, some for servers without a graphical interface, and others for special uses. Because Linux is an open source operating system, combinations of software vary between Linux distros. |
