Cix is an independent rolling-release Linux distribution and hardware and workload orchestration platform. The distribution is compiled from source and places containers at the centre of the system, with the host providing a thin layer over the underlying hardware.
Rather than relying on established container and networking stacks, Cix implements much of its infrastructure itself. Its container runtime uses native Linux namespaces and cgroups, while networking is handled by a custom C data plane. Administration is exposed through a REST API used by both its command-line client and web interface.
