Rakarrack is a guitar multi-effects processor that emulates a collection of stompboxes and rack-mounted audio effects. It processes audio through JACK and is designed to reproduce many of the effects commonly used by electric guitarists.
Rather than presenting a single amplifier model, Rakarrack provides a configurable effects chain. Musicians can combine distortion, modulation, filtering, delays and other processors, experimenting with different signal paths to produce a wide range of sounds.
The application processes stereo signals and can also be used with instruments other than guitar, including keyboards and vocals. Its MIDI facilities allow external controllers to adjust effects and switch between stored configurations.
Rakarrack is now a legacy project. Development of the maintained successor continues under the Rakarrack-plus name, so musicians considering a new installation should also examine that project.
