Lyra OS is a Brazilian Linux distribution based on openSUSE Leap, designed to provide a stable and cohesive desktop experience. The project combines the established openSUSE foundation with its own desktop customisation, system administration tools and installer.
The desktop edition uses GNOME and includes Vega, a custom control centre for managing system settings, software, hardware and services. It also incorporates Sheliak desktop extensions and Lyra-specific branding. The distribution aims to simplify everyday administration while retaining openSUSE’s package management and system recovery capabilities.
A separate server edition, named Delos, provides a headless environment for managing services and infrastructure. Both editions are still in development, with pre-release images available for testing.

What's a Linux distribution ("distro")? |
| A distro provides the user with a desktop environment, preloaded applications, and ways to update and maintain the system. Each distro makes different choices, deciding which open source projects to install and provides custom written programs. They can have different philosophies. Some distros are intended for desktop computers, some for servers without a graphical interface, and others for special uses. Because Linux is an open source operating system, combinations of software vary between Linux distros. |
