tint2 – simple and light open source taskbar

Last Updated on August 11, 2021

Summary

tint2 is a lightweight taskbar that still offers a good range of features. We really like that it’s highly customizable, stays out of the way with its useful autohide functionality, and works with all the window managers we tested.

tint2 is very lightweight, uses minimal resources, and has very few dependencies. It’s a great choice if you’re running Linux on old hardware. Combine it with a lightweight window manager and you’re set. But don’t think tint2 is only for old machines.

The software is easy to theme and customize. It’s also possible to extend tint2 with other applications such as mail checkers, calendar, volume control, and more.
