Sharada Braille Writer – text editor with braille input

Sharada Braille Writer (SBW) is a text editor which supports braille input.

Simultaneous multiple press of braille combinations produce corresponding letters. You can input text in more than 40 languages with braille knowledge in Perkins like way. It offers a six key approach to producing print materials. Letters f, d, s, j, k, l represent 1 2 3 4 5 6 of the braille dots respectively. By pressing “f” and “s” together will produce letter k and like.

This is free and open source software.

  • Readability – support theme and font selection for better readability.
  • Text editing functions – supports basic text editing functions including Undo/redo, Find, Find and Replace, Go-to-Line, Spell checker, etc.
  • Text to audio converter – audio converter for recording text as audio using text to speech engine.
