Deblinux – lightweight operating system based on Debian

Deblinux is a lightweight operating system based on Debian 13 “Trixie”, designed to provide a fast and stable experience even on older hardware.

The distro is optimized for older hardware with zRAM technology and features advanced privacy tools like Tor and OnionShare.

Features include:

  • Stability: Built on a solid Debian foundation.
  • Performance: Highly optimized to keep resource usage low.
  • Ready to use: Includes essential tools for daily tasks and system recovery.
  • Two modes of operation:
    • Safety Mode – a live mode where nothing is written to your hard drive, together with settings for privacy and anonymous browsing.
    • Normal Mode – install the distro to your hard drive.

What's a Linux distribution ("distro")?

A distro provides the user with a desktop environment, preloaded applications, and ways to update and maintain the system.

Each distro makes different choices, deciding which open source projects to install and provides custom written programs. They can have different philosophies.

Some distros are intended for desktop computers, some for servers without a graphical interface, and others for special uses. Because Linux is an open source operating system, combinations of software vary between Linux distros.
