System Options
- S1 Wireless LAN – configure the Wi-Fi SSD and passphrase. SSID stands for Service Set Identifier and is the name of a wireless network. It’s just as easy configuring this in the Network Settings GUI.
- S2 Audio – specify the audio output destination.
- S3 Password – change the password for the current user. It’s also possible to change the password with the
passwd
program. - S4 Hostname – set the visible hostname for the Raspberry Pi.
- S5 Boot – there’s the option to boot to a text console, or the desktop GUI. If you’re Pi doesn’t have a lot of physical RAM, you may prefer setting the default to login to the console. If so, you can always then start the desktop GUI with the
startx
command. - S6 Auto Login – here we have the option to automatically log in to the console, and the option to automatically log in to the desktop.
- S7 Splash Screen – enable or disable the splash screen at boot.
- S8 Power LED – this option does not apply to the Raspberry Pi 5, as the LED behaviour cannot be changed.
- S9 Browser – change the default web browser. Choose between Chromium and Firefox. A nice touch is that whichever one is set is started from the web browser icon in the taskbar.
- S10 Logging – Choose between default, volatile, persistent, auto, or none.
