Here’s an image of ncmpc in action in browse mode. As with any console based application, you’ll want to learn the keyboard shortcuts. They can viewed from the Help page (press 1 or h from any screen). There’s global keyboard shortcuts, as well as shortcuts for specific screens.

The bottom of the image shows the current playback track.

In browse mode, you can play songs, add songs to the queue, save the queue, and delete playlists.

Queue Screen

The queue screen is accessed by pressing 2.

Pressing enter will play the queue. It’s easy to append a song to the queue, save the queue, clear the queue, delete a song from the queue, and more besides. Again, the bottom of the screen showing the current played song.
