Essential Utilities to Boost Producitivity

Hobbits – bit-based analysis, processing, and visualization

Hobbits is a multi-platform GUI application for analyzing, processing, and visualizing bitstreams.

It is designed to help users inspect machine-level data, build repeatable workflows, and extend the application through a plugin system. The project also includes a command line runner for executing plugins and saved batches without the graphical interface.

This is free and open source software.

Key Features

  • Supports plugin-driven workflows for displays, analyzers, operators, and import/export tools.
  • Includes multiple data views such as binary, hex, ASCII, rasters, plots, and spectrograms.
  • Offers analyzers for pattern finding, framing, highlighting, metadata editing, and Kaitai Struct-based parsing.
  • Supports importing and exporting data through files, HTTP, TCP, hex strings, packet capture, and generated data sources.
  • Lets users save repeatable processing pipelines as batches and run them later, including from the command line.
  • Can be extended with plugins written in C++ or Python.
