Curtail – compress your images

Curtail (previously ImCompressor) is an image compressor, supporting PNG, JPEG and WEBP file types.

It support both lossless and lossy compression modes with an option to whether keep or not metadata of images. It is inspired by Trimage and Image-Optimizer.

Curtail is free and open source software.

  • Uses OptiPNG, pngquant, jpegoptim and libwebp:
    • Define PNG lossy compression level.
    • Define JPG lossy compression level.
    • Define WEBP lossy compression level.
  • Advanced settings:
    • Define PNG lossless compression level.
    • Define WEBP lossless compression level.
    • Progressive encode JPG.
  • Option to remove metadata from images.
  • Add a customizable suffix to append at the end of each new file.
  • Uses threads to compress images simultaneously.
