Activiti is a business process management platform centred on a BPMN process execution engine. It enables applications to coordinate business activities through workflows defined using Business Process Model and Notation.
The engine can manage processes containing automated operations, approval stages and tasks requiring human participation. It records workflow state so that activities can continue over time, rather than requiring every part of a process to complete in a single operation.
Activiti is designed to integrate with application services and other business systems. Its architecture supports embedding the process engine into applications, while associated components provide facilities for exposing and managing workflow services.
