Chuwi CoreBook Air Plus running Linux: Benchmarks

Memory

Many Linux distros have a minimum recommended requirement of 4GB system memory, but Linux benefits enormously by having more RAM. 16GB of RAM is more than sufficient for most desktop usage. The Air Plus came with 16GB of RAM.

$ phoronix-test-suite benchmark ramspeed

RAMspeed tests the system memory (RAM) performance. The Air Plus’s benchmarks are reasonable but remember that the 10th generation and 12th generation machines only have DDR4 RAM running at 2666 MHz and 3200 MHz, whereas the Air Plus has DDR5 RAM running at much higher clock speed (6400 MHz).

This benchmark also tests the system memory (RAM) performance. memcpy() copies from one place to another. memset() just sets all pieces of memory to the same value.

A curious result given that for the memcpy benchmark the Air Plus comes top, but comes last for memset.
