Last Updated on September 6, 2020

podcast-__init__python Blurb

The podcast about Python and the people who make it great.

Python is a general-purpose high-level development platform. Its design philosophy emphasizes programmer productivity and code readability. It has a minimalist core syntax with very few basic commands and simple semantics, but it also has a large and comprehensive standard library, including an Application Programming Interface (API).

The prominence of Python is, in part, due to its flexibility, with the language frequently used by web and desktop developers, system administrators, data scientists, and machine learning engineers. It’s easy to learn and powerful to develop any kind of system with the language. Python’s large user base offers a virtuous circle.

About the Show

Podcast.__init__ is a weekly podcast about the Python programming language, its ecosystem, and its community. The podcast offers interviews about Python-related projects.

Tobias brings an approachable interviewing technique, making himself easy to talk to, and asks guests genuinely insightful questions. The interviews come across as normal, casual conversations. Recent interviewees include Monty Taylor of RedHat, Michael Foord who developed the mock testing library which is part of the Python standard library, and Moshe Zadka of Globality, Inc. who’s part of the Twisted frameworks. Interviews end with Tobias and his guest picking something (often a book) close to their hearts.

The show notes are really efficacious. They set out the background to the guest’s project, and lists the questions asked in the interview.

The show is supported by advertising.
