GDB
GDB, the GNU debugger, allows you to debug programs written in C, C++, and other languages, by executing them in a controlled fashion, printing their data, etc., on a wide variety of UNIX and non-UNIX systems.

    Mudlet is a MUD client. It offers a user-friendly graphical user interface, natively built-in Lua scripting language support, a complex, high performance trigger engine based PCRE-7.6 Perl regular expressions, customizable user buttons, menus and tool bars via CSS stylesheets to trigger commands, and more.
  • Name of Game
    In Name of Game you control a peasant who must travel through woods, villages, mountains, mines, and more to complete several missions.

  • NetHack
    NetHack is a single player dungeon exploration game that runs on a wide variety of computer systems, with a variety of graphical and text interfaces all using the same game engine. Unlike many other Dungeons & Dragons-inspired games, the emphasis in NetHack is on discovering the detail of the dungeon and not simply killing everything in sight - in fact, killing everything in sight is a good way to die quickly. Each game presents a different landscape - the random number generator provides an essentially unlimited number of variations of the dungeon and its denizens to be discovered by the player in one of a number of characters: you can pick your race, your role, and your gender.     (commercial) On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness is an episodic RPG-Adventure game set in a deranged comic-book-meets-pulp-horror universe. Armed with unconventional weaponry, you join forces with the Startling Developments Detective Agency to make war on bizarre enemies and solve the mysteries hidden deep in the sinister heart of New Arcadia.
  • OpenDungeons
    OpenDungeons is an open source, real time strategy game based on the Dungeon Keeper series of games. Players build an underground dungeon which is inhabited by creatures. Players fight each other for control of the underground by indirectly commanding their creatures, directly casting spells in combat, and luring enemies into sinister traps.
  • OpenMW
    OpenMW is an attempt to reimplement the popular role playing game Morrowind. It aims to be a fully playable implementation of the game. No game data is distributed with the code; the user must already own a copy of Morrowind to use the software.
  • OpenRPG
    OpenRPG is a role-playing game shell. In its basic form, OpenRPG is a peer-to-peer chat program with some advanced die rolling capabilities, a web based miniature map, and a data organizer (game tree).
  • Pentagram
    Pentagram is a project aiming to create an Ultima 8 engine for use on modern operating systems, including Linux, Mac OS X and Windows.
  • Pertergrin
    Pertergrin is a fantasy role playing game. As such it has certain known features of this type of games. It has a freely invented historic background. The player (i.e. YOU) plays the role of a hero. The computer plays the role of the master which controls the game. Pertergrin is also a fantasy role playing game system.

    Porrog is a rogue like game very much in development.
  • Project LRNJ
    Project LRNJ is a console-style role-playing game that teaches Japanese.
  • pyrpg
    pyrpg is a project to create a Python-based 3D role playing game engine, similar to those used in The Bard's Tale or Might and Magic. It is currently in the very early stages of development.
  • Qt NetHack
    NetHack is a graphical one-player role-playing game with a highly modular window system interface that supports TTY, VGA, Mac, Amiga and other displays. Qt is a graphical user interface toolkit. So, "NetHack with Qt interface" is a version of NetHack that has a user interface module written using the Qt toolkit.

    Rogue is the original graphical adventure game.

    A text-mode console role playing game written in Perl. It features ASCII graphics provided by the ANSI::Color module, an inventory, a magic system, food depletion, killing, getting killed, a library system, and themes.

    RPGD is an addictive hack and slash style game. Multiple users play medieval characters and battle each other and monsters in arenas, gang fights, taverns, at sea, or in the deep, dank dungeons.
  • S.C.O.U.R.G.E.
    S.C.O.U.R.G.E. is a rogue-like game in the fine tradition of NetHack and Moria It sports a graphical front-end, similar to glHack or the Falcon's eye. I tried to design the 3D UI as a best of both worlds from old to new: It lets you rotate the view, zoom in/out, view special effects, etc. On the other hand I've always liked the old-school isometric games like Exult or Woodward.

    Sacred is an enhanced version of the ROM 2.4b6 codebase. The enhancements include new player skills, spells, classes, and races.

    Scorched Island 3D is a game that combines tactics from the popular game "Scorch" and elements from RGP games. And all of this in three dimensions.
  • Second Life
    (commercial) Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by nearly 100,000 people from around the globe.
  • Silmar
    (shareware) Silmar is a random dungeon game for Windows and Linux.
  • SLASH'EM
    SLASH'EM is a variant of Nethack. It is a roguelike, single-player role-playing game where the hero must venture through the depths of the Dungeon of Doom to retrieve the Amulet of Yendor.
  • SoulFu
    SoulFu is a polished roguelike game.
  • Summoning Wars
    Summoning Wars is an open source, network-based, role-playing game with a point-and-click fight system. It features both a single-player and a multiplayer mode for about 2 to 8 players. Read more

    Tales of Middle Earth (ToME) is a fantasy adventure game, based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. It is a game that emphasizes intricate, challenging, and varied gameplay over graphics. Hundreds of different monsters in randomly-generated, unpredictable dungeons will strive to slay you by various means, and you counter - if you survive - by developing the skills of your choice and wielding mighty artifacts.
