This Week in Linux is a weekly news show that covers the latest news in the world of Linux. We cover a wide variety of topics from application / distro releases to Linux Gaming and even news about core system items like the Linux kernel itself.
About the Show
This Week in Linux records live every Saturday which is published an unedited show live stream. There’s also an edited produced episode released on Monday mornings.
Each show is jam packed with the latest Linux related news with good coverage of intriguing graphical and command-line open source projects, and a smattering of proprietary software too. There’s general news, interesting books and Linux based games, general security news, and other stuff.
The show notes are concise, and well-written. We particularly like the timestamps in the notes that let you jump to specific segments of the show, together with the more usual hyperlinks. The timestamps are particularly handy if you’re in a hurry, or want to skip anything that’s not of interest.
The show has a respectable YouTube subscriber base (5.6K at the time of writing), at least for Linux podcasts.
About the Host
Michael Tunnell is a jack-of-all trades. He describes himself as a designer, developer, marketer, writer, podcaster, Linux enthusiast, and open source advocate. He hails from Birmingham, Alabama. He also co-hosts Destination Linux, another high quality Linux podcast. Michael’s contributed to many open source projects, notably Antergos (a Linux distribution based upon Arch Linux), and Ubuntu Mate (a Linux-based operating system combining Ubuntu with the desktop environment MATE).

| Verdict: | This Week in Linux is an excellent podcast to keep abreast of the latest Linux news. There's lots of insightful thoughts along the way (including from the Linux community), and there's very little fluff. The YouTube coverage is pretty neat. We're a big fan of Michael's presentational style. |
