Quarkos is a user friendly, desktop oriented operating system based on Ubuntu Linux with KDE Plasma, optionally Trinity desktop environment, and an added value thanks to unique Q4OS tools integrated. Its goal is to provide Ubuntu based operating system with Q4OS amenities. Unlike Q4OS, which is Debian based, Quarkos is based on Ubuntu.
Another unique Quarkos feature is a dedicated download of incredibly fast and efficient Trinity desktop environment alongside the default Plasma edition. You can download either a lightweight efficient Trinity, or more advanced Plasma desktop edition.

What's a Linux distribution ("distro")? |
| A distro provides the user with a desktop environment, preloaded applications, and ways to update and maintain the system. Each distro makes different choices, deciding which open source projects to install and provides custom written programs. They can have different philosophies. Some distros are intended for desktop computers, some for servers without a graphical interface, and others for special uses. Because Linux is an open source operating system, combinations of software vary between Linux distros. |
