I used this client. It was originally known as Pantheon Mail. Using the name Mail just leads to unnecessary confusion.
Mail is in direct conflict with the decendent of the original Mail released in 1971 which is installed in many distributions by default and is now at version 14.9.24. This conflict makes it problematic in several ways.
The majority of distros don’t install mail by default. For example, in Ubuntu it’s provided by the mailutils package. That’s not installed by default.
The binary is named io.elementary.mail not mail.
Apple call their email client Mail. I can think of a few other similar instances off the top of my head.
