Description: Damn Small Linux is a business card size (50MB) bootable Live CD Linux distribution. Despite its minuscule size it strives to have a functional and easy to use desktop.

Damn Small Linux has a nearly complete desktop, including XMMS (MP3, and MPEG), FTP client, Dillo web browser, links-hacked web browser, spreadsheet, Sylpheed email, spellcheck (US English), a word-processor (Ted-GTK), four editors (SciTe, nVi, Zile [emacs clone], and Nano [Pico clone]), graphics editing and viewing (Xpaint, and xzgv), Xpdf, emelFM (file manager), Naim (AIM, ICQ, IRC), VNCviwer, Rdesktop, SSH/SCP server and client, DHCP client, PPP, PPPoE (ADSL), a web server, calculator, generic and GhostScript printer support, NFS, Fluxbox window manager, games, system monitoring apps, a host of command line tools, USB support, and pcmcia support, some wireless support. For more information check out the applications pages.

http://www.linuxbeta.com/slideshows/slideshow.php?release=70&slide=1 A picture is worth a 1000 words....so this should be worth 48 thousand!!!!!

All this on a 50Meg "business card" cd!

IS THAT A PENGUINE IN YOUR POCKET?

http://damnsmalllinux.org/

Plus the fact that its #10 and moving up at http://distrowatch.com means that this lightweight distro carries one hell of a punch if it can keep up with the "Heavyweights" on a consistant basis!

Is the application easy/hard to install? LIVECD:NO INSTALL HDINSTALL:PAINLESS
Did you need to install other libraries/applications before you could run the software? NO, ITS ITS OWN OPERATING SYSTEM
What are its features? INCREDIBLY SMALL, LIGHTWEIGHT, FAST (NO BLOATWARE)
How does it compare to rival applications? WHAT OTHER 50MEG OS IS OUT THERE
Is the software buggy? Does this stop the application being useful? SLIGHT BUGS HERE AND THERE, OS IS DEVELOPED ON A CONSTANT BASIS, BUGS ARE GONE QUICKLY
What are the strengths/weaknesses of the program? STRENGTH:FAST!FAST!FAST, EASY TO USE WEAKNESS:HAVING TO BURN NEW CD'S EVERY MONTH TO KEEP UP WITH NEW RELEASES
Is it easy to use? UNGODLY SIMPLE!
Does it represent good value? (For 'free' applications, is it worth installing?) NOTHING BETTER OUT THERE

I absolutely love it...

I have some older hardware laptops that would be completely worthless with a M$ based OS, even Win95...

DSL makes it where I now have a useable desktop in which I can check email, browse the web, and even play music...

The lowest system I have it running on is a Laptop 75Mhz (90Mhz if on Turbo!!) with 16Meg ram and a 504Meg HD (this system would have been useless but has new life thanks to DSL)

Ok, Ok...edited 1st post....howz dat?
