I'm a Windows user and .NET programmer but for years I've always wanted to learn how to use Linux. I was given an old Dell Dimension L566CX and installed 192MB memory (something I already had on-hand). I found a burned copy of Mandrake 10.1 and installed it on the computer. While playing around with it I found a link to TightVNC viewer and was able to connect to one of my Windows computers with no problem.

I am guessing only the viewer came with my copy of Mandrake and not the TightVNC server. I would like to set up a server so I could play around with the Linux computer from my Windows laptop. I can't figure out how to set up or install TightVNC on Linux. With Windows I just download the installer and double-click the .exe file to install it. How can I install TightVNC on Mandrake? If the TightVNC server did come with my copy of Mandrake 10.1, how can I get it to run when the computer is turned on and set the passwords on it?

I've Googled this and found instructions but these instructions are for people who are familliar with Linux and I couldn't figure it out. If someone could provide me with some kind of tutorial for dummies or for Windows users, that would be excellent.

Thanks!
