I am new to linux and I have taken up the 'lirc' project in my college.
It seemed simple enough and I followed the instructions as given in the magazine I was referring :-
to install the package I gave EXACTLY the same commands :-
$ tar xvjf lirc-0.7.2.tar.bz2
$ cd lirc-0.7.2
(at this step it opened a configuration window where I chose the serial port 'home brew' option, I had mad the Infra red receiver myself and not used exactly the same IC as mentioned, they asked for TSOP 1738, it was not available so I had to use the only one which was available)
$ sudo make instal
This completes the lirc installation.
After this I had to load the serial device driver developed by the lirc team by using the command...
# modprobe lirc_serial
but it gave the message 'error loading... device busy'
It also said that before loading these modules make sure that the linux kernel's serial driver must not be loaded.
If it is loaded, use the rmmod to remove it first.
How to use this rmmod command?
Also now to check if the device was working or not I gave the command
$ mode2 -d /dev/lirc
but it gave the message that 'device not found'
Now what to do?
I am stuck guys.. plz help.. I have to get this done before time...
thanks for all the help you are offering...
With best wishes!
