Here you are welcome to post questions/messages about issues that will help a beginner become a more experienced Linux user. Suitable questions include about configuration of the system, configuring daemons, X, etc etc. No Linux question is too trivial here!

We've also launched a way that everyone can contribute - check out

If you ask a question here, please also try to answer one. That way everyone benefits!

Don't forget to register as the benefits are enormous e.g. you can receive private messages where experts can provide assistance behind the scenes, notification when a reply is posted to your question, post polls that can gauge the opinion of the forum viewers etc.

Of course all registered users on this forum have access to the comprehensive MyLinks resource, which lets you subscribe to LinuxLinks categories for the latest updates relevant to you.

A few recommended tips when posting questions

* Always quote full details (where relevant) of your system. For example quote linux distribution with version number, which kernel and X server you are running etc etc.

* Try to specify exactly your problem -- stating "X doesn't work" isn't very helpful. If possible include any relevant logs, output information in your post. Remember the more information you give, the greater the chance someone will be able to help!

* Reading the relevant HOWTO / FAQ is recommended.
