A vendor of Linux-based IP set-top boxes (STBs) announced that it has sold its two millionth unit. Meanwhile, Amino's latest "AmiNet130M" model, which offers MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 in HD (1080i) resolution, has recently won two industry awards, says the company.

InterDigital is readying an HSPA "wireless engine" baseband module that connects to application processors via PCIe, and thus targets netbooks and other PC-style devices and boards. The SlimChip Half-Mini PCIe module uses InterDigital's SlimChip HSPA baseband IC, which is also available in a SlimChip MID module that connects serially.

Gateworks Corp. is shipping the second of its power-sipping Cambria Network Platform boards. The Cambria GW2350 ships with an OpenWrt Linux-based board support package (BSP) and optional dev kit, and targets enterprise and residential network applications, says the company.

Brazilian independent software vendor (ISV) Handcase says it is porting about 100 of its PalmOS applications to the Linux-based WebOS platform set to debut in Palm's forthcoming Pre smartphone. Handcase is also translating some 323 of its PalmOS apps from Portuguese to English, it says.
