The USB Armory is full-blown computer (800MHz ARM® processor, 512MB RAM) in a tiny form factor (65mm x 19mm x 6mm USB stick) designed from the ground up with information security applications in mind. Not only does the USB Armory have native support for many Linux distributions, it also has a completely open hardware design and a breakout prototyping header, making it a great platform on which to build other hardware.

The Raspberry Pi received an extraordinary amount of pre-launch coverage. It truly went viral with major news corporations such as the BBC giving extensive coverage. Not without reason, it is groundbreaking to have a small capable computer retailing at less than the price of a new console game. There have been a number of ventures that have tried to produce a cheap computer such as a laptop and a tablet but which never materialised at these price points. Nothing comes close to the Raspberry Pi in terms of affordability, which is even more important in the current economic climate. Producing a PC capable of running Linux, Quake III-quality games, and 1080p video is worthy of praise.

Glomation announced an ARM9-based single-board computer (SBC) that consumes only 0.25 Amps. The 3.75 x 3.5-inch GESBC-9G20 is equipped with an Atmel AT91SAM9G20 system-on-chip clocked to 400MHz, and offers Ethernet, USB, and serial connections, among other I/O, says the company.

The 15-inch Protege 15 and 8-inch Protege 8 respectively offer 1GHz Via Eden or 500MHz AMD Geode LX800 processors, and both include gigabit Ethernet connectivity, the company says.
