Atmel is now sampling an ARM9-based system-on-chip (SoC) that runs Linux and targets "power-constrained applications that also need high performance." The AT91SAM9G20 consumes a maximum of 80mW, has twice the clock speed of its predecessor, four times the cache, and a host of standard interfaces.

Micro/sys has announced the first single-board computer (SBC) combining its StackableUSB expansion bus with an ARM-based Intel XScale processor. Intended as an industrial controller or protocol converter, the RCB1626 runs Linux, has dual 10/100 Ethernet ports, and operates from -40 to 85 degC, the company says.

Tilera introduced a Linux-based development kit for its scalable, 64-core Tile64 SoC (system-on-chip). The company also announced a dual 10GbE PCIExpress card based on the chip (pictured at left), revealed a networking customer win with Napatech, and demo'd the Tile64 running real-time 1080P HD video.
