Windows may never boot Linux from its dominant role in high performance computing, but Microsoft's dual-boot strategy is making some inroads. IBM says it has built what may be the largest Windows/Linux HPC dual-boot system yet for a university research group in Sweden.

The Banshee Project has achieved the first major, stable release of its eponymous music jukebox application. Banshee 1.0 features faster searching, browsing, and management functions, along with improved memory usage, faster start-up, and a more responsive interface better supporting large collections, project leaders say.

The Software Freedom Law Center (SFLC) has filed two more copyright infringement lawsuits on behalf of the developers of the Linux-based BusyBox utility suite. The suits have been filed against Bell Microproducts and SuperMicro Computer for alleged GPL violations, according to a Linux-Watch story.
