Fedora 9 now lets you create a bootable Linux distribution on a flash drive with persistence. In other words, you can not only boot any PC that will accept USB drive booting into Linux, you can even boot into your own personal desktop. Now, that can be useful.

The openSuSE project for Linux has released openSuSE Build Service 1.0. The Novell-sponsored project said that this would provide developers with access to code repositories for the openSuSE Linux distribution and make it easier for developers to contribute code.

One of the first commercial Linux distributions aimed at the average computer user, Linspire, has just been sold to Xandros and undergone a name change to Digital Cornerstone. Xandros may not be very commonly known, but it is the distro being used by Asus on the EeePC.
