German security researcher Stefan Esser has discovered multiple vulnerabilities in smbfs, the mountable SMB (Server Message Block) file system for Linux.

Because we all have friends/family members that use it...

This week, three more vulnerabilities were found in version 6 of the software giant's flagship Web browser, security information provider Secunia said on Wednesday. That brings the total number of IE vulnerabilities disclosed in the past two months to 19, including eight flaws fixed by Microsoft during its October patch cycle.

Then imagine, that all the systems you use enforce password aging, on different time schedules. In short order, the situation gets way out of hand.

It's a situation that Imprivata, Inc. hopes to improve with today's launch of OneSign 2.6, an enterprise single sign-on appliance that is now optimized for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9.

TechWorld: Fedora Core 3 tests new security model Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Red Hat last week released Fedora Core 3, the latest version of its cutting-edge Linux distribution, including a redesigned version of Security Enhanced Linux (SE Linux).

While the software is aimed at developers and enthusiasts, it is seen as a testing ground for technologies that can later be built into the enterprise distribution, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). SE Linux is a case in point: Red Hat and other SE Linux developers have used the feedback from the version included in Fedora Core 2 to make the system more usable in the real world.

That seemed to be Wednesday's lesson from security information provider Secunia for the developers of the major Internet browsers. The company released information on two common security issues with the tabbed browsing feature found in several flavors of the Mozilla Foundation's browsers, the Opera browser, the Konqueror browser for Linux and two third-party plug-ins that add the feature to Microsoft's Internet Explorer.
