According to eWeek the sky is falling. However, this isn't the first exploit of PHP, and I doubt it will be the last.

Multiple vulnerabilities in two popular open-source projects—phpMyAdmin and phpBB—could put users at risk of cross-site scripting and information disclosure attacks, security researchers warned Thursday.

Mozilla releases Firefox security update Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

As I understand it, this exploit has little to do with Firefox and more to do with liberties taken with naming conventions and outside factors mostly outside the control of Mozilla. Nonetheless, they have released a fix for it.

The open-source project released Firefox 1.0.1 to fix a vulnerability in the Internationalized Domain Names (IDN), a standard for handling special character sets in domain names that could let an attacker spoof Web sites on non-Microsoft browsers. The standard allows companies to register domain names that appear to be the same in different languages.

Oracle wraps top-notch security around Linux Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Oracle announces its compliance with EAL4 running on Linux.

Oracle has met the Common Criteria Evaluations at the EAL4 level – the highest industry security level for commercial software – for its Oracle Internet Directory, a middleware component of Oracle Identity Management; Oracle9i Database release 2; and the Oracle9i Label Security release 2.

BM and Novell announced at LinuxWorld today that SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 has become the first distribution to complete Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL) 4+.

Microsoft creates program promising to give advanced warning on security holes and breaches. Still no word on if they plan on improving the product so they don't occur as often.

Under the Security Cooperation Program, Microsoft will advise participating government agencies on network security issues in an effort to try to anticipate or mitigate security lapses, said Gerri Elliott, corporate vice president of Microsoft's worldwide public-sector unit.
