Microsoft offers virus-removal programs

Here's my thoughts on what could end up as a very devious strategy from Microsoft regarding this...
1) We have to assume Microsoft's AV product will become better than any other competitors eventually. It's their OS, they should know it best.
2) This will surely spell doom for any company that relies on AV revenue. McAfee, Symantec, etc have to adjust.
3) So, Microsoft ends up with another monopoly, ALL Windows users have to buy their AV.
4) Then Longhorn comes around and it's not selling well. It doesn't have a "new" or "super cool" feature that makes anyone want to upgrade from XP to it.
So, they decide, Longhorn users get the AV software for FREE. Everyone else, continuing to use XP or earlier version of Windows MUST CONTINUE to pay monthly fees.
This would then likely chase everyone to Longhorn.
That's what I would do, if I was at Microsoft, and had to solve the impending problem of "Uh oh, Longhorn isn't selling, what do we do?".
