Basler's camera driver works with Linux

Basler Vision Technologies has released a Linux version of its pylon driver package for use with its GigE Vision cameras. All the elements of the Windows driver package can be found in the new Linux version, including the GigE Vision filter driver, C++ camera API, and the pylon viewer application.

The pylon driver for Linux operates with Basler scout and pilot area-scan cameras, as well as the company’s runner series of line-scan cameras. It offers 100% compatibility with the Gen|Cam standard, providing the benefit of a unified C++ camera API for both area-scan and line-scan cameras. Because of the generic design of the pylon driver’s core, new camera features—such as an I/O debouncer and automatic exposure—are accessible without any software updates.
