Qnap Systems announced a new member of its "TS" family of Linux-based network-attached storage (NAS) devices. The five-bay, hot-swappable TS-509 Pro Turbo NAS is equipped with a 1.6GHz Intel Celeron processor, 1GB RAM, and dual gigabit Ethernet ports.

Designed for SMBs and enterprise workgroups that require asset-sharing and data backup, the TS-509 Pro Turbo is more powerful than previous TS systems. These include the SoHo-oriented TS-109 and TS-209, and the four-bay, 500MHz TS-409 Pro Turbo, which targets small businesses.
