Install Firefox 3 the right way

SINCE IT'S BEEN a couple of days now since Mozilla released Firefox 3 and that's apparently taking the world by storm, here's some timely advice about a better way to install Firefox 3 under Linux until the major Linux distribution vendors build up and release their packaged versions of Firefox 3 suitable for click-and-go installation.

Mozilla's instructions for installing Firefox 3 under Linux work, but they don't tell you how to make it available to everyone who uses your computer, migrate your plugins, or create a menu item, desktop icon or task bar shortcut.
