Red Hat (NYSE: RHT), the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that the Nordic operations of Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), a leading global information technology (IT) services company, has standardized its mid-range Nordic Linux IT Infrastructure Outsourcing Services on Red Hat Enterprise Linux in response to an increasing demand for hosted Linux services in the Nordic region. CSC has also implemented the Red Hat Network Satellite Server systems management platform for a unified and centralized management, administration and provisioning model for its Linux systems.
"Red Hat Enterprise Linux, along with Red Hat Network Satellite Server, enables us to unify our management and administration efforts for all of our hosted Linux systems. The benefits of these solutions include a more common and efficient model for administering and provisioning licenses for Linux systems, resulting in less administrative work and a faster and less expensive route to acquiring new licenses," said John Kjaergaard, Nordic Midrange Manager at CSC.
CSC's industry-leading mid-range IT Infrastructure Outsourcing Services employs approximately 100 people and manages more than 2,000 servers for various customers across the Nordic region. With the new Nordic standard based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Network Satellite Server with Provisioning module, CSC can run hundreds of Linux systems from a single point.
"Our collaboration with CSC fully demonstrates the management capabilities of Red Hat Network Satellite Server. The decision by an industry-leading consultancy in the Nordics, like CSC, to standardize on Red Hat Enterprise Linux is exhilarating and reinforces the rise of commercial Linux as a serious alternative to proprietary systems," said Magnus Svensson, Nordic Manager for Red Hat.
