ACCESS has showcased their new Linux-based successor to the PALM OS for the mobile platform. This platform has been named ALP, the Access Linux Platform.
The company has however not revealed how soon it would be released in the market. They were initially expected to release it to equipment manufacturers in late 2006.
Access however said that they have released the platform freely to developers and OEMs. Market analysts believe that this means that it would take around “12-18 months” before phones appear on retail shelves.
