Italian developer Fulvio Ricciardi has produced a GPL-licensed x86 Linux router distribution available as a live CD or bootable CompactFlash (512MB) image.

The ZeroShell Net Services distribution includes a Web-based configuration interface, and can provide "the main network services a LAN requires," Ricciardi says.

ZeroShell Net Services 1.0.beta1 is available for download, now, as a 108MB ISO image for live CDs, or as a 108MB image suitable for installation on a 512MB CompactFlash card. It comes with drivers for all PCI, US, and PCMCIA cards supported under Linux. All graphics cards and RS232 serial ports are also supported, Ricciardi says. It requires a Pentium 233 or better with 128MB of RAM, and an ATA CD-ROM or CF adapter.
