MYOSS Magazine presents a review of GNOME Power Manager by it's creator.

We all know that power management in Linux isn't all that's it should be. It sometimes takes a lot of work to get things "just right" or as the mantra goes "It Just Works".

All this is changing with the rise of Gnome Power Manager.

This is an exclusive article from the lead developer of Gnome Power Manager, Mr. Richard Hughes.

This article has been written by Richard Hughes 2005. Permission is granted to copy, distribute and/or modify this document under the terms of the GNU General Public License.

My Background

I have been a Linux user for about 5 years, and am currently the main developer of GNOME Power Manager. I've been working on these applications for about 5 months. I'm now a student at the University of Surrey, in the UK.

Abstract

This short article will show the progress we have made on the gnome-power mailing list, and the result of all the hard work from the various people contributing to the list. I'll cover what progress we have made, and detail some of the packages that exist at the moment.
