JBoss Hits Enterprise with Hibernate 3.0

JBoss releases version 3.0 of their Hibernate application.

JBoss this week announced a full-point upgrade to Hibernate, the company's open source object/relational mapping (ORM) technology. The new version, Hibernate 3.0, includes filtering support for temporal and permissioned data.

"Hibernate 3.0 is a milestone production release and validates the JBoss Professional open source model of providing core development, technology direction, support services and commercialization for innovative open source projects," said Marc Fleury, chairman and CEO of JBoss.

Hibernate is a core piece of the JBoss Enterprise Middleware System (JEMS). While it has been optimized for other products in the company's open source software stack, Hibernate is a standalone product that can run independently from other applications or platforms.

Hibernate is designed to relieve IT organizations from the bulk of common data-persistence programming tasks involved in mapping object-oriented software with relational databases.
