DesktopLinux: Open source security firm releases secure client for VPNs

Open Source-based security software maker Astaro has announced the availability of a secure client for Virtual Private Networks (VPN). The Astaro Secure Client combines an advanced IPSec VPN client with a personal firewall, and is said to ensure that email and network communications for remote workers back to the central office is secure.

According to Astaro, the software supports advanced encryption algorithms, authentication methods for use with smart cards, USB tokens and biometric devices, and a variety of popular security and networking protocols including LAN/Ethernet, DSL, modems, and wireless protocols.
