Tuesday, December 09 2003 @ 09:02 PM EST
Contributed by: Smiley

dar is a shell command, that makes backup of a directory tree and files. It is released under the GNU General Public License (GPL in the following) and actually has been tested under Linux, Windows and Solaris. Since version 2.0.0 an Application Interface (API) is available to open the way to external independent Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs).

Minor release 2.0.2 is available, it fixes a few bugs and adds a bit more of documentation:

  • warning displayed when the archive is about to save itself was shown in some wrong cases
  • fixed a bug in the parsing of comments in configuration files
  • dar hangs when using --nodump on a named pipe
  • added documentation about filter mechanism added

Download is available as usual here
