Timeshift-Create

Creating a new snapshot is easy. Just click the Create button, and the process begins. A dialog box appears showing the snapshot being created.

On the first run, a full snapshot is taken using rsync and hard-links. Subsequent snapshots capture the changes made to the system. Common files are shared between snapshots which saves disk space.

Create-Snapshot

The snapshots are saved to /timeshift/ on the root of the backup device. There’s no option to change this directory.

Snapshots can be restored by selecting a snapshot from the main window and clicking the Restore button on the toolbar.
